Hannover Messe 2018: what people have seen in the Hanover fair

Tomorrow the Hannover Messe will close its doors. As we have already told you, the Hannover Messe is the Hanover fair dedicated to Industry 4.0 and this year the Hannover Messe and the CEMAT are taking place together.

Energy: essential topic on the Hannover Fair 2018

Energy is an important topic at the Hanover fair 2018. If we used it efficiently, we could reduce costs and protect the climate. The topic of energy is linked to that of electric cars and if there are many electric cars on the street, there will be a greater demand for energy. For this reason, the new high-power charging station for electric cars created by BB is a successful idea. During the Hannover Messe, ABB showed how its charging station with power up to 350 kW needs only eight minutes to recharge the battery of the car allowing, it to travel 200 km.

The Hermes Award: the award of industrial technology

The first day of the Hannover Messe 2018 was the perfect context to deliver the Hermes Award 2018, a highly coveted award in the field of industrial technology. The company “Endress + Hauser Messtechnik GmbH + Co. KG” won the award with a product that will become essential in Industry 4.0. It is a self-calibrating thermometer, perfect for food or pharmaceutical industries. To calibrate automatically, the thermometer considers the Curie temperature of the material, this temperature has been measured with respect to a fixed physical point. Thanks to this automatic calibration, there will be no need for additional work or interrupting the operation of machines to regulate the temperature.

AI, cobots and augmented reality: the keys for a successful Industry 4.0

Artificial intelligence will play an extremely important role in Industry 4.0 and for this reason it was present during the Hannover Messe 2018. Cobots, the collaborative robots, were presented by many exhibitors such as Siemens and Omron. These cobots behave in accordance with the behavior of the others and they are able to learn from each other. A good example is Forpheus, the ping pong champion robot that had already been presented in the past. Forpheus adapts its game to the level of its rival and is able to deal with moves even if it has never dealt with them before.

Artificial intelligence, robots, cobots, augmented reality must be seen in this framework too. So, at the Microsoft stand, Rockwell Automation and Bradman Lake presented in the Hannover Messe 2018, smart glasses that allowed to monitor and modify the settings of all the parameters of a packaging machine. Smart glasses could also be used to conduct maintenance operations remotely.

The Hannover Messe is an important moment to take stock of the situation regarding the fourth industrial revolution, in fact a series of solutions that could provide positive impulse to Industry 4.0. were presented.
